*I want to do good performance-oriented characters in Telugu – Bollywood actress Hema Sharma*
Bollywood actress Hema Sharma, who gained good recognition by acting in films like Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se, One Day Justice Delivered, and Dabangg 3. She became even closer to the audience by participating as a contestant in Salman Khan-hosted Bigg Boss 18 reality show. Hema Sharma, who became famous as Viral Bhabhi on social media..the songs she did in Bhojpuri became chartbusters and garnered record-level views. This talented actress is now getting ready to make her entry into Telugu. As Hema Sharma is preparing to enter Tollywood, she spoke in a special interview with the media.
– We are from Ghaziabad, near Delhi. Ours is a family with absolutely no connection to films. I am a complete outsider. I never thought of entering films. However, I have loved dancing since childhood. I was interested in becoming a choreographer. But destiny brought me in front of the screen as an actress. My lifestyle, fashion, and dance videos went viral on social media. They earned me the name Viral Bhabhi. That popularity brought me opportunities in Bollywood.
– I got the opportunity to play a good character in Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se, starring Dharmendra, Bobby Deol, Sunny Deol, and Kriti Kharbanda in the lead roles. I played the character of Dr. Subhi in this film. As this role received good recognition, I got more opportunities in Bollywood. After that, I got an offer for One Day Justice Delivered, starring Anupam Kher and Esha Gupta. I appeared in this film as a special appearance. I also played a good character in Salman Khan’s Dabangg 3. Just when my journey in Bollywood was progressing successfully, Covid came. Due to the lockdown, like everyone else, some of my movies also did not go on floors. I did a song with Pawan Singh, who is a star in Bhojpuri. During the shooting of this song, I learned Bhojpuri lyrics and performed in the song.
– I like Telugu films. The creativity in Telugu films is what attracts me. Today, Telugu films have a great reputation across the country. They are being dubbed into all languages. They are also being released directly. Hindi audiences really like Telugu films. I want to enter the Telugu film industry. Recently, I auditioned for director Trivikram’s film. I was not selected because my face has a soft look. But Trivikram’s team told me that whenever there is an opportunity, they will definitely call me for their film. I have not met Trivikram garu. But I like his films.
– In Telugu, I want to act in films of all the heroes like Mahesh Babu, Pawan Kalyan, Prabhas..I like every heroine. The costumes of heroines in Telugu films are very good. Telugu heroines look very beautiful in traditional wear. Rather than glamour roles, I want to act in performance-oriented characters. Heroine-centric movies with good content are receiving good response. Now audiences are appreciating only content.
– We are seeing OTT content getting more audience appreciation than cinema. I am interested in doing web series and OTT shows. I learn other languages quickly. I learned Bhojpuri and did songs. Likewise, I am confident that I can act in Telugu too. I am ready to act in any role, whether it is a sister-in-law, mother, sister… Discussions are underway for some Telugu movies.
