*Dr. Pratani Ramakrishna Goud Condemns Trump’s Decision to Impose 100% Tax on Telugu Films*

Dr. Pratani Ramakrishna Goud, President of the Telangana Film Chamber, strongly condemned the recent decision by U.S. President Donald Trump to impose a 100% tax on Indian and non-American films. He stated that the order, which he saw in the news yesterday, is highly unjust and deeply concerning.

He emphasized that the film industry is not merely a business but a livelihood for lakhs of workers across 24 crafts. South Indian films, in particular, involve investments worth thousands of crores, and these films see significant collections both in India and abroad, especially in the U.S., where millions of Indians reside and support Indian cinema.

Goud pointed out that Indian films enjoy great success in the U.S., with both small and big-budget films earning considerable revenue. However, the newly imposed 100% tax would discourage distributors from taking Indian films to the American market, leading to heavy losses and setbacks for the industry.

He urged President Trump to reconsider the decision and roll back the increased tax policy, restoring it to its earlier state. “The President of the United States is seen as a big brother to the nations of the world. We request him to take into account the interests of all film industries globally and make decisions that promote mutual cultural exchange and growth.”

He also highlighted that English movies are being successfully showcased in all Indian states without any discriminatory tax structures. Therefore, he appealed for a fair and equal approach to foreign films in the U.S. as well.
